The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, has met with the 82 Chibok schoolgirls recently freed from Boko Haram captivity.
The Minister who arrived at the premises of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, along with some top officials of the ministry, was ushered into the hall where the girls were seated.
Officials of the DSS, however barred journalists from covering the meeting, just as Professor Adewole refused to speak to reporters after the meeting.
Sources at the Ministry of Health said the visit was to assess the health status of the girls and ascertain what medical help they needed.
The meeting came barely 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari received the 82 Chibok schoolgirls at the Presidential Villa.
The President’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, said the schoolgirls were released after months of negotiations.
They are part of the over 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents from the Government Secondary School in Chibok, a community in Borno State in April 2014.
