Govt. Will Not Stop Parents From Contacting Their Daughters – Shehu

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has said that the government will not stop any parent from immediately establishing contact with their daughters.
He gave this assurance while giving an update on the welfare of the 82 Chibok school girls who were released on Saturday.
“The examinations are going on, psychologically, physiologically and there is also a quick attempt to establish contact with their family members so that they can be brought together.
“The government will not stop any parent from immediately establishing contact with their own daughter. Certainly, it would be facilitated,” he stressed.
According to Mr Shehu, photographs of the girls have already been taken, printed and dispatched to Chibok.
“These young ladies of course come from not only the township Chibok itself but from several settlements scattered around the place.
“So the idea is names have been published, but you don’t make the mistake of duplication. When we had the first 21, because of similarities in names, we had two, three sets of parents coming on assumption that “this girl that is mentioned is mine” – So we don’t want to create that confusion.”
The President’s aide therefore gave the assurance that the families by Tuesday, would be reunited with their daughters.
“I believe that today, this exercise in Chibok will be going on. Some have no doubt about their own wards. The television has helped, the social media and all of that – They have seen and confirmed on their own without waiting for a word. They are already on their way out,” Mr Shehu noted.
