Veteran Actor, Robert De Niro, has been honored with the 44th annual Chaplin Award in New York on Monday night.
The actor, known for his roles in “The Godfather,” “Raging Bull” and “Taxi Driver,” was unable to explain why he gravitated toward film making at an early age.”I just enjoy it, acting. I’m more bent toward film.
“It’s a hard question to answer, I just liked it. Just worked on it,” De Niro said.
Friend and fellow actor Michael Douglas, said De Niro embraces and inherits his characters.”He’s got a good sense of humor, it’s great to see him doing the comedies, we had a lot of fun together. And he loves a cumber martini,”Douglas said with a smile.
De Niro has been acting since the mid 1960’s and the 73-year-old has no plans on stopping anytime soon, with multiple projects in the works. “I’m looking forward to doing a movie with Marty Scorsese called the ‘Irish Man’ and a thing with David O. Russell that we’re working on, some other projects”.
The Chaplin Awards, presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, celebrates those who have made a significant impact in the film industry. Past recipients include Michael Douglas, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Robert Redford.
