National Assembly Passes 2017 Budget

Both chambers of the National Assembly have passed the 2017 Budget, five months after President Muhammadu Buhari presented it to them.
The House of Representatives first passed the budget of N7.441tn on Thursday, followed by the Senate.
President Buhari had presented a budget of N7.298tn to a joint sitting of the National Assembly on December 14, 2016.
However, the Committee on Appropriation headed by Senator Danjuma Goje increased it to 7.441tn.
 The National Assembly is appropriating N2.9tn for recurrent expenditure, N2.1tn as the contribution to the development fund for Capital expenditure exclusive of capital expenditure in statutory transfers.
