Three ABU Final Year Students, Four Others Abducted Along Kaduna- Abuja Highway

At least seven people have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway on Tuesday.
Although the police authorities in Kaduna state are yet to confirm the incident, an eyewitness told our correspondent that the gunmen blocked the road at about 4:30pm on Tuesday and intercepted several vehicles, after which they took seven people to an unknown destination.
Among the kidnap victims are said to be three final year students of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Despite the deployment of more security operatives, Abuja-Kaduna road has become notorious flash-point for kidnappings and armed robbery attacks. Authorities say an investigation into the recent incident is ongoing.

JUST IN: State House Of Assembly Member Kidnapped In Sokoto

A member representing Denge/Shuni State Constituency at the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Aminu Magaji Bodai, has been kidnapped by suspected hoodlums.

He was kidnapped around 1:15 am between Dange and Bodai town in the state.

A close relation of the victim revealed that his brother was kidnapped by yet to be identified persons.

When contacted, the state police command public relations officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammed Sadiq Abubakar confirmed the incident.

He added that efforts are being carried out to rescue the victim.

On whether there has been any contact from the kidnappers, he says none has been established so far.

PRESIDENT BUHARI REPLACES HEADS OF FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved replacements for heads of Federal Government agencies that were recently appointed as ministers.

Sen. Basheer Garba Mohammed has been appointed Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons. He replaces Sadiya Umar Farouk.

Dr. Chioma Ejikeme has been appointed Executive Secretary, Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, replacing Sharon O. Ikeazor, while Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi is now Director General/CEO, National Information Technology Development Agency.

For Executive Commissioner (Stakeholder Management) Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), President Buhari has forwarded Adeleke Moronfolu Adewolu’s name to the Senate for confirmation as replacement for Sunday Akin Dare.

The appointments take immediate effect.
