President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to meet with the released 82 Chibok Girls by 4:00pm on Sunday, May 7.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu, disclosed this, adding that the release of the girls was secured after lengthy negotiations.
“Our security agencies have taken back these girls, in exchange for some Boko Haram suspects held by the authorities.”
Also according to the statement, the President expressed his deep gratitude to all who played a part in ensuring the success of this operation, as follows: Security agencies, the military, the Government of Switzerland, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and local and international NGOs.
Meanwhile, Channels Television gathered that the girls have been taken to their hometown (Chibok) in Borno state for profiling first, before they proceed to see the President in Abuja.
Also reacting to the news, the Bring Back Our Girls campaign group said it is glad that the government is committed to freeing the remaining 113 girls who are unaccounted for.
In a statement released on Sunday, the group said it is still awaiting a list of the names of the released girls.

In like manner, a set of 21 girls were released to the Federal Government in October 2016.
The recent development now brings to 103, the number of girls so far released by the terrorists, besides those that escaped from the militants on their own.
The girls were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents from the Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State in April 2014.
