Black Players Should Not Play Unless Muntari Ban Is Lifted – Kick It Out

Black players have been urged by anti-racism organisation, Kick It Out to boycott the weekend matches in Italy, unless football authorities withdraw the one-match ban imposed on Sulley Muntari.
Independent trustee of Kick It Out, Garth Crooks, said black players playing in the league must act by refusing to play for their clubs if Muntari’s ban is not lifted.
The Ghanaian who plays for Pescara was booked for dissent, after complaining of racial abuse from the crowd and walking off the field during last Sunday’s 1-0 Serie A defeat to Cagliari.
Despite the call made by
Footballers’ union FIFPro had also called for the yellow cards to be rescinded because of the exceptional circumstances.
Serie A’s sporting judge, however maintained that Muntari’s punishment must stand, saying he would miss Pescara’s home game against Crotone on Sunday.
