About 2,200 women in Kano State North West Nigeria, have been empowered in various skills, under the Future Assured Foundation, headed by the wife of the Nigerian President, Mrs Aisha Buhari.
In addition to the skills, the women were trained in areas such as health, education and several trades, which the organisation believes will help them solve their immediate financial problems, among others.
They were also provided with empowerment packages following the training programme.
Mrs Buhari noted during the graduation ceremony, that the second batch of the programme is set to commence soon across the country.
Meanwhile, the wife of the Kano State Governor, Mrs Hafsat Ganduje, who pledged loyalty to the Buhari led-administration, said women in Kano are particularly happy with the support and empowerment they have received from the first lady in the last two years.
She added that similar programmes are being executed by the Ganduje-administration in Kano.
The wife of the Nigeria’s Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo who also expressed delight over success of the programme called on philanthropists and government officials to emulate the gesture of Mrs Buhari’s Future Assured Program.
According to her, they could do so by assisting the graduands with startup capital that would help them translate their skills into something meaningful.
