The Adamawa State Governor, Bala Ngilari, has distanced himself from an advertorial in some national dailies that criticised the presidency for alleged involvement in Adamawa politics.
A press statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Phineas Elisha, said the advertorial written by one Baba Rabo Jada claiming to be a supporter of the governor did not reflect Mr. Ngilari’s position.
“Gov. Bala James Ngilari in totality distances himself from the advertorial because it does not reflect his mind as he is committed to President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid,” Mr. Elisha said. “To put the record straight, the Governor has never been betrayed by President Goodluck Jonathan over his political ambition. On the contrary, Mr. President has been very supportive to Governor Ngilari and the good people of Adamawa.”
It noted that Mr. Ngilari as the leader of the party in the state was working to ensure its victory in the coming elections at all levels.
While noting that genuine reconciliation had already taken place among Peoples Democratic Party members in the state, Mr. Elisha said the writer of the advertorial was a faceless individual not known by the governor and party.
Also commenting on the advertorial, the state Deputy Chairman of the PDP, who is also the Vice chairman of PDP 2015 Campaign Organization, Jingi Rufai, said the party in the state remains a solid house under the leadership of Mr. Ngilari.
Mr. Rufai described the advertorial as an attempt by an enemy of the party to cause disaffection in PDP.
