The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, is leading his major rival, President Goodluck Jonathan, in Adamawa state as indicated by the results of 14 Local Governments so far released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Adamawa State has 21 local government areas.
Out of the results declared, APC won in nine Local Governments while PDP won in five.
The local governments, whose results have so far been released, include Madagali, Lamurde, Michika, Maiha, Mayo Belwa, Yola South and Yola North.
Others are Mubi North, Shelleng, Toungo, Guyuk, Hong, Girei and Song Local Governments.
In Madagali, the PDP scored 4,997while APC polled 3,331.
In Lamurde, APC scored 7,322 votes while PDP polled 17, 919. Also in Michika Local Government, the PDP scored 6,762, while the APC got 3,527.
In Maiha APC scored 15,432 as against the 2,603 votes polled by the PDP. In Hong Local Government, the home town of former Minister of Health Aliyu Idi Hong, the APC got the highest votes of 17, 365, while PDP got 16, 662.
In Mayo Belwa, the local government of impeached governor Murtala Nyako, the APC polled 24,483 votes followed by the PDP which scored 17, 789.
In Yola South Local Government, the APC scored 39,019, defeating the PDP which polled 10,988 votes.
The story is also the same in Yola North where both former PDP National Chairman Bamanga Tukur and Mr. Jonathan’s link man, Hassan Adamu (Wakilin Adamawa), cast their votes.
The APC trounced the PDP here with 47, 139 against PDP’s 13, 790 votes.
In Toungo LG, the APC got the highest votes of 6,891, beating the PDP, which polled 4,239 votes. In Mubi North, the APC also scored the highest votes of 20,641 votes as against 12,964 votes garnered by the PDP.
In Shelleng, the APC scored 14,656 while the PDP polled 9,053. In Guyuk, the APC scored 9,575 while the PDP got 19,808.
The PDP also won in Song Local Government with 18,495 while the APC scored 17, 354.
The state’s Returning Officer, Okogbaa Geoffrey, said INEC would ensure transparency by sticking to the provisions of the electoral act in its conducts.
He commended the stakeholders for exhibiting a sense of sportsmanship.
