The Odua People’s Congress, OPC, has denied involvement to rig the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Lagos as alleged by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed which he recently posted via the social media.

The group led by Otunba Gani Adams has described the allegation as a false capable of destabilising the peace in the state.
In a release signed by director of media and publicity, Yinka Oguntimehin, the group said, there is no iota of truth in the statement.

According to him, “The OPC is neither a political party nor partisan organization. As an organization, the OPC led by Gani Adams in consonance with our constitutional franchise expressed our support for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the presidential elections held on the March 28, because of his avowed commitment to equity, justice, fairness and the equitable distribution of our collective constitutional rights”.

It will be recalled that Lai Mohammed had earlier said that the OPC would cause chaos and disrupt the presidential elections by distributing Military Uniforms to OPC members. However, there was no single incident of the involvement of OPC in any disruptive tendency before, during and after the elections.

He however assures members Nigerians especially Lagosians that the OPC will continue to keep the peace of the nation in accordance with the constitution. He also promised unflinching relationship with President Goodluck Jonathan even after his tenure.
