Lagos –  Mr Akin Orebiyi, the Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), on Sunday lauded the conduct of the political parties in the just-concluded state elections. “The parties displayed tremendous maturity during the polls. “Never mind the few skirmishes here and there, but on the whole, we can say that the political class deserved an accolade,’’ he said during the collation of the election results at INEC office, Yaba.

“In four years’ time, there would be considerable improvement in the attitude of the political class.’’ The  16 parties participated in the governorship and state assembly polls. Orebiyi, however, said there was still room for improvement in the conduct of future elections. According to him, the commission will continue to improve on the process. Parties that contested the elections include AA, ACD, ACPN, AD and APC. Others are APGA, ID, KOWA, LP, LPPP, NCP, NNPP, PDP, PPA, PPN and UPN.
