Anambra Security Joint Task Force on Friday assured residents of the state of optimal security and safety as they come out en mass to participate in the April 11 election.

The Commander of Onitsha Military Cantonment, Col. Mohammed Bello, gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen after he led a JTF show-of-force in preparation for the Anambra House of Assembly election.

Bello noted that adequate strategies had been put in place; while all necessary precautionary and proactive measures had also been taken to quell any security emergency during and after the election.

He, however, urged officers and men of the JTF to be civil and professional while discharging their election duties.

Bello, who is also the Commander of 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, warned trouble makers and electoral manipulators to steer clear of election venues in Anambra.

He said, “This exercise is to re-assure the residents of the state on how prepared the JTF is for Saturday’s election. And also to letting everyone know that we have the logistic and man-power to successfully oversee security during and after the election.

“I assure you that officers and men of the JTF would perform professionally, while maintaining their individual security agencies assigned roles in the election.”

According to him, the election duty of the JTF would rekindle the confidence of the residents of the state in all security agencies since nobody would be unduly intimidated or harassed by any security personnel.
