Anambra CP Orders Arrest Of Armed Policemen At Polling Units

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Sam Okaula, has urged the Police officers in the state to be true ambassadors of what the Police represent through their conduct during the election.
This is coming as a last minute instructions to his men in the rank of Divisional Police Officers (DPO), who will be playing supervisory roles in the House of Assembly election in the state.
Speaking at the State Headquarters of the Anambra State Police Command in Awka, Anambra State capital, south east Nigeria, Okaula advised the DPOs to be diligent.
He also urged them to carry out their duties professionally and ensure that no armed police officer is seen at any polling unit.
He instructed them to see to the immediate arrest of any armed police officer found anywhere near any polling unit.
The Police CP encouraged the officers to see to a free and fair election, such that their professionalism would not be compromised in any way.
Several Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) have been redeployed to different states to supervise the Saturday governorship and House of Assembly elections.
Their deployment was approved by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Suleiman Abba, on Thursday.

In a statement, the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, said that six Deputy Inspectors-General of Police have also been redeployed to coordinate activities in the six geo-political zones.
