The manager has dismissed criticism of his team after defeats to Barcelona and Manchester United severely damaged their chances of winning silverware.
Arsene Wenger has dismissed criticism of his Arsenal side as "too emotional" following recent defeats to Barcelona and Manchester United.
Two Lionel Messi goals at the Emirates Stadium left the Gunners' Champions League hopes hanging by a thread, before Premier League debutant Marcus Rashford inspired United to a 3-2 win on Sunday.
Wenger's side now trail league leaders Leicester City by five points and face second-placed Tottenham in a crucial title clash on Saturday, but the manager feels the critics have overreacted to the back-to-back losses.
"I've never surprised by the criticism by the media," he told reporters. "I think people have been a bit too emotional. We've had a bad week, [then] two wins and we have a very good week."
Rashford scored twice, taking advantage of a Gabriel slip before ghosting in front of the defender to head home, also providing the assist for Ander Herrera's third at Old Trafford, and Wenger vented frustration at the mistakes. He added: "We’re not happy with the result. We had two lapses of focus that we paid for."
