Police Nab 7-Man Car Robbery Syndicate In Minna

The Niger State Police Command has arrested an inter-state car robbery gang, after they negotiated to sell a Lexus SUV in Minna.
The suspects were paraded on Tuesday at the State Command.
Parading the 7-man syndicate, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Bala Elkana, ‎said that the gang members locked their suspect inside the toilet at Mabushi in Abuja and whisked his wife in the car to an ATM where they forced her to withdraw 100,000 Naira.
Mr Elkana said that ‎the car was brought into Minna by the transporter, Gideon Okunleye, who claimed to be a taxi driver in the FCT, while Seidu Mohammed (a mechanic) works on cars before they are disposed to buyers.
Other members of the gang are Suleiman Umar, Mohd Mohd, Promise Marcus, Abdulhamid Umar and Moses Hassan.
“We got a tip-off based on the strength of a reliable source and our Special Anti Robbery Squad swung into action. We were able to arrest the members of the gang and also recovered the vehicle,” he said.
Leader of the gang, 23 year-old Suleiman ‎Umar, who hails from Kaduna, said that he stole a master-key which they use in apartments from a man they met at a popular nightclub in Abuja.
Items found with the gang include a pistol, three laptops, ATM cards, Lexus SUV, cash in Naira, Dollar and CFA, three wrist watches, gold rings and necklaces.
The Lexus SUV had a registration number; Abuja, YAB-214-TD.
