The Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Mukhtar Abimbola, has adjourned till April 18, further hearing on the murder case instituted against Yewande Oyediran, who allegedly stabbed her husband to death.
Justice Abimbola said that the adjournment would allow the counsels to file their addresses of the objection and for the Department of Public Prosecution to determine the issue of private prosecution of the accused person.
Counsel to the accused person, Bioye Asanike, who is also a lawyer from the Oyo State Public Prosecution, filed an application before a State High Court against the charges levelled against his client who was accused of killing her husband, Lowo Oyediran.
Counsel to family of the deceased, Yomi Alliyu, also called for the private prosecution of the accused person.
During proceedings, Counsel to the Public Prosecution, Abdul Ganiyu, informed the court that he was ready with the witness for the case.
He also expressed disappointment with an application for preliminary objection filed on Tuesday by the counsel to the accused person, where he faulted the charges preferred against the accused person.
Justice Abimbola, thereafter ordered both counsels to the prosecution and the accused to submit their addresses in the next adjourned date.
In another development, the family of the late Oyediran has asked for the private prosecution of the accused person who they claim killed their son.
The family through Alliyu, informed the court of an application that has been filed in this regard, saying that the family has confidence in the ability of the prosecuting counsel and the presiding judge.
