Abuja - The Taraba State Chapter the of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has warned the State and Federal governments against dealing with some individuals who are illegally parading themselves as the representatives of the association.
Chairman, Bishop Timothy Yahaya, briefing journalists at their secretariat located along Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) in Jalingo, the state capital, noted that one Bishop Charles Yohana had allegedly been “going around the nooks and crannies of the country impersonating both the CAN national President and Taraba State Chairman of CAN.
He called on him to desist from such act before the law of the land catch up with him.
Yahaya cited the recent rally organized by the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) in Gombe State where Yohana publicly introduced himself to the public as the CAN Chairman of Taraba “Such action should nothave emanated from a genuine Christian,” said Yahaya.

“The Taraba state chapter of CAN is re- emphasizing her stand that the government should desist from dealing with some individuals who are illegally parading themselves as representatives of the Association but to ensure that only the actual leadership is involved in any decision making especially in terms of achieving peace for sustainable development and growth."
"The act committed by Yohana as observed by the CAN is not only aimed at undermining the credibility of the leadership of CAN Taraba state chapter, but a calculated plot to out rightly destroy the good image of the Christian community portraying Christians as having joined the band wagon of liars in the society,” the church leader added.
The CAN leadership said the bishop, who could not be reached for comment, had no mandate to lead an important spiritual association such as CAN at whatever level.
“This is because the bishop who parades himself as bishop has no ecclesiastical jurisdiction in the state and has even gone a long way by working tirelessly against the Christian faith he claims to be professing.”
