The Argentina international thinks his side can compete with the best and is optimistic about their chances in Europe
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore believes the Ligue 1 champions have the quality to compete with clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid in the Champions League.
PSG made it to the quarter-finals of European club football's elite competition in 2012-13 and 2013-14, with Barca and Chelsea respectively proving too strong, yet Pastore thinks they have what it takes to go all the way.
"I believe PSG are at the same level as Barcelona and Real Madrid," Pastore told El Mundo.
"The only way to show that you are among Europe's best is by making it to the Champions League final. We still need to take that one small step, but it's the club's goal [to enjoy success in Europe.]
"However, you can talk about things like this, but you have to show to it on the pitch in the end. You have to prove during games that you can compete with these teams.
"Barcelona should be a point of reference for PSG. Everybody tried to play like them when they won it all under Pep Guardiola. This wasn't easy, but they are an example of how the game should be played for me."
The Argentine then went on to praise Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but insisted that PSG are not a one-man team.
"Ibrahimovic is a player who is very important to us and for the way we play," he added. "But we also played some good games and won without him. We don't rely on just one player. We have several world-class players and count on all of them."
