The Member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chriscato Ameke, and over one thousand members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The former PDP members made their move at Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area where the state Governor, Willie Obiano, and the National Chairman of the party, Victor Umeh, received them.
Mr Umeh verified the registration of the defectors whose cards had been issued at Aguleri Ward 1 by the Ward Chairman.
Mr Umeh also assured the defecting members of full rights and privileges but was quick to add that APGA has no automatic ticket for any aspirant, noting that the mass defection of the PDP members to APGA was a clear evidence of the dominance of the party in the area and in the entire state as well.
The federal lawmaker said he decided to join APGA because of the purposeful leadership of Governor Obiano and his determination to redefine governance. He also promised to join hands to strengthen and uplift the state to a greater height.

Governor Obiano, speaking in vernacular, lauded the decision of Rep. Ameke to “make hay while the sun shines”, adding that APGA that is growing from strength to strength and was poised to sweep all positions in the coming elections except the Presidency.
