Abuja - Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has urged locals to be more united in confronting the challenges facing the country.
The governor made the plea during an inter-denominational thanksgiving service to mark the 54th independence anniversary of the country and dedication of a new Government House Chapel Asaba.
He observed that despite the current security challenges facing the country, Nigeria had every reason to thank God for keeping the country together.
The governor admitted that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan had its challenges, but with unity of purpose and cooperation of all, these could easily be surmounted.

The governor noted that through divine intervention the Federal Government under President Jonathan in spite of the spate of insurgency has succeeded in recording marked improvement in the living condition of the people.
“With the President leading the operation we have effectively tackled the Ebola disease, let us all join hands and support him on all issues so that the country can achieve the desired greatness. We as a people of this nation should always remember President Jonathan in prayers and join our hands with him to lead the country to its destination.
The country is passing through a lot of challenges and insurgency but God is turning things around for the better in order to restore the country's respect and glory,” he said.
Nigeria gained its independence from Britain on October 1 in 1960.
