Teachers in Kwara State have vowed to continue with the ongoing strike until the agreement reached with the state government on the modalities for the payment of their four month salary arrears is implemented.
The Principal Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Idris Jamiu, explained that through the intervention of traditional rulers in the state, the government agreed to pay at least two months, but only paid 90% for the month of October 2015.
He added that they are still expecting the balance.
Mr Jamiu called on the state government to respect the peaceful intervention of the traditional rulers.
Some parents have also lamented the long absence of students and pupils from school.
Speaking to reporters, they said that the forced holiday has been affecting their finances and also the children at the long run.
