Channels Tv
Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has launched banks’ Point of Sale Terminal, POS, for revenue collection in the state.
The action, according to the Governor, would eliminate cash payment system, put to rest issues of multiple payments and fraudulent and illegal collection of revenue while improving data collection of citizens in the state.
Governor Obiano spoke at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, the capital of Anambra State on Monday during the launch of the new payment system.
The Governor said that POS system of revenue collection would help to achieve the 2.2 billion Naira monthly Internally Generated Revenue target as against the present 1.3 billion Naira the state is generating.
Governor Obiano also test-ran the POS process and flagged it off for the eight banks.
The Deputy Governor, Nkem Okeke, also said that the POS process, aside taking care of the listed points, would also help enhance proper data collection of citizens in the state.
The event had government functionaries, traditional rulers, market associations and traders in attendance.

Citizens were advised to always obtain an electronic receipt immediately after payment and never accept a manual receipt.
