The goals continued to flow on Matchday 7A as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City all returned home with commanding lead.
Lionel Messi scored his fourth and fifth UEFA Champions League goals of the season, with his first earning a nomination for the latest Goal of the Week prize, presented by Nissan.
The Argentina international rounded off a sweeping counter-attack to give his side a second-half lead at Emirates Stadium, collecting Neymar’s pass and coolly laying Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech down before lifting his finish over the goalkeeper.
Messi then secured a 2-0 win from the penalty spot, but he is still seven goals behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s all-time UCL tally of 89 and the Real Madrid star is also a contender for Goal of the Week after his stunning strike gave the 10-time champions a victory by the same scoreline over Roma.
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben struck with one of his trademark finishes, cutting in from the left and curling the ball inside the far post in his side’s 2-2 draw with Juventus in Turin.
Germany star Julian Draxler is also in line for the prize thanks to his wonderful chipped finish in Wolfsbutg’s 3-2 win over Gent.

Rounding off the list is Manchester City’s Yaya Toure, who curled a stunning effort past Dynamo Kiev’s Oleksandr Shovkovskiy to earn the English side a 3-1 win in Ukraine.
