The Pharaohs’ handler says his side were by no means flawless in their narrow friendly win against the Stallions and said they would improve before Eagles’ game.
Hector Cuper has admitted Egypt made mistakes in their 2-0 friendly win over Burkina Faso, insisting his men must improve on their final touch.
The Pharaohs recorded a 2-0 victory against the Stallions in an international game played on Saturday ahead next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria.
A brace from Abdallah El-Said helped the north Africans ease past the west Africans in Borg El-Arab Stadium, Alexandria.
Cuper praised his side for keeping the game within reach, but he was left to rue the missed chances they ough to have converted.
“I admit we have made some mistakes,” said Cuper.
“ We will need to work to solve some problems and fix these mistakes; that’s why the friendly games are so important to us.”
“We need to improve our final touch and to depend more on the wings. The most important thing was reaching the opponent’s penalty box & that happened today but we missed a lot of chances. Generally we gave a good performance.”
The win is a massive boost for the Egyptian national team who face Samson Siasia’s men on March 25 in Kaduna, before hosting the three-time African kings on March 29 enroute Gabon 2017.
Cuper’s men top Group G with six points from two games, with Nigeria in second position with four points.
