The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the party will bounce back again.
Mr Ali Modu Sherrif made the statement at the inter-denominational thanksgiving and victory service for the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State on Saturday.
The PDP Chairman said that the Supreme Court ruling on Rivers State brought hope to the people of the state.
“The new PDP we are trying to put on the ground, will by the grace of Allah, go to the promised land – coming back to power again.

“Last time when I spoke about 2019, people thought that Ali Sherrif wanted to be Chairman of the party in 2019, no, what I am saying is that PDP as a party whether Ali Sherrif is here or anybody, from what I have seen and from what the generality of Nigerians are saying, I am sure they are going to give PDP a chance again in 2019,” he said.
The State Governor in his remark, said that his victory gave him confidence to tackle the issues of security in the state.
” Let me say today (Saturday), that as the Chief Security Officer of this state, I will always support the security agencies to fight against crimes.
“I will not support criminals and criminal activities in this state, and I will not support the killings of innocent people, who have done nothing.”
The Governor also noted that the victory brought hope for the party in the March 2016 re-run elections in the state.
“Nigeria is a democratic country, and therefore, we must respect the rule of law. Every security agency must subject themselves to civil authority and so, let nobody here, be intimidated on what will happen on March 19.
“I tell you, for you to get freedom is not by the word of mouth, you must make sacrifices in order to get the freedom of your people, you must stand firm to defend what belongs to you, you must say I have the right to protect my vote.
“If they like, they can bring all the submarines, but you must protect your votes,” he said.
