Nigerians Abroad: Obi, Ogbeche, Lawal & Ujah on target

The Nigerian got his first goal of the season as Inter Milan forced arch rivals, Milan to a 1-1 draw in Sunday’s Serie A encounter
ENGLAND

Victor Moses
 was on parade for Stoke City in their 2-1 home defeat to Burnley. The Nigerian, though impressive in the game, was replaced by Mirko Arnautovic in the 56th minute. Moses boasts of ten English Premier League games this season with a goal to his name.
Sammy Ameobi  got an assist for Newcastle United as they pipped QPR 1-0 in the English Premier League on Saturday. The younger brother of Toons’ legend Shola was on parade for the entire duration of the game and gave a very good account of himself. The 22-year-old striker has played eight times this season with a goal to show for it.
Victor Anichebe came from the bench in West Bromwich Albion’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge. Goals from Diego Costa and Eden Hazard were all the Blues needed to silence the Baggies. Anichebe was brought into the fray with less than 12 minutes to the end of the game. He has played seven times in the English topflight this season.
FRANCE

Elderson Echiejile
 was on parade for AS Monaco in their 2-2 home draw to Caen. The Nigerian who was making his fourth start for the Principality team was on parade for 90 minutes.

HOLLAND 
Bartholomew Ogbeche got his ninth goal of the season as he helped Cambuur to a 3-1 win away at Utrecht. The former PSG player got his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 82ndh minute as his side now sit in the third position with 20 points from 20 matches.

TURKEY
Raheem Lawal was on target in Eskiehirspor’s 2-1 win at home versus Kayseri Erciyesspor on Sunday. The Nigerian replaced Hurriyet Gucer in the 72nd minute before netting his side’s winner with four minutes to the end of the match. He has played ten games this season in the Turkish topflight.
Godfrey Oboabona was on parade for Rizespor in their 2-0 home defeat against Istanbul Basaksehir on Saturday. The former Sunshine Stars who was missing in action in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against South Africa was replaced in the 77thh minute by Deniz Kadar. He has scored once in eight appearances for the Turkish topflight team this season.
GERMANY
Anthony Ujah was on target for Cologne in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Hertha Berlin. The Nigerian’s strike in the 58th minute was a mere consolation for his German Bundesliga outfit as that could not stop the visitors from securing an away win. Ujah now boasts of eight goals in all competitions for his side this season.

Leon Balogun played for two minutes in Darmstadt’s 0-0 draw against Kaiserslautern in the second tier of the German league. The one – cap Super Eagles defender has endured a season marred by injury this season. His side are third on the log as they continue chase for a place in the German elite division.
Odion Ighalo was on parade for Watford as they bowed to Ipswich Town 1-0 in the English Championship. The former Granada forward who boasts of a goal this season came on for Fernando Forestier in the 75th minute but his presence could not save his side from defeat.
ITALY
Joel Obi was Inter Milan’s hero as he scored in their 1-1 draw against AC Milan in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. The goal which leveled scores for the Nerazurri was his first of the season. He was replaced in the 72nd minute of the encounter by Hernanes.
SCOTLAND 

Efe Ambrose was on parade for Celtic in their 2-1 win against Dundee United on Saturday. The Nigerian who was part of the Super Eagles’ squad that failed to secure a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations ticket was introduced in the second half. He has played eight times for the Hoops this season.
