House of Reps. member representing Fika/Fune Federal Constituency, Samaila Gadaka, has called on the Defence Headquarters to carry out investigation on why military aircraft carried out Aerial bombardment of Fika town instead of Nafada and Ashaka towns located in Nafada and Funakaye Local Government areas of Gombe state.
The lawmaker made the call shortly after the Aerial bombardment of Fika town which was carried out by security forces when suspected members of the radical group, Boko Haram, invaded neighbouring Nafada and Funakaye Local Government Areas of Gombe State killing residents and destroying property worth millions of Naira.
Shortly after the attacks on Nafada and Ashaka, according to the lawmaker, military air strike was carried out in Fika instead of Nafada and Ashaka, where the insurgents carried out their dastardly act.
The Fika bombardment, he revealed, apart from causing confusion in the ancient town, also injured three military personnel on ground.
The lawmaker also disclosed that five cars were destroyed in the Fika General Hospital premises while the works department of the LG was affected.
Mr Samaila Gadaka regretted that security agents were always lagging behind on rescue operations as the insurgents often carry out their dastardly act and run to their hideouts before the arrival of security agents.
“Boko Haram is always ahead of security forces. I wonder why responses of security operatives to attacks on innocent people by the militants are always slow and inaccurate,” the lawmaker queried.
“The insurgents commenced attack on the border towns around noon but security forces arrived Fika axis late in the evening when it was all dark and innocent houses were bombarded instead of the insurgents who have long fled the area.
“If the Air Force jet had arrived Nafada, Ngalda and Ashaka at the right time, all the attackers would have been crushed but their late arrival and inaccurate areas identified for attack was unprofessional,” he stressed.
Gadaka, however, praised security forces for their relentless efforts and called on the Federal Government to motivate the officers and men of security agencies who are working hard to end the insurgency.
The lawmaker, who admitted that the Nigerian Military have been performing excellently in peace keeping operations in other countries, urged them to do more for their country in the search for lasting peace.
He called on law abiding people of the affected states to accord security agents the desired support in the search for lasting peace in the country.
Fika is 20 kilometres away from Nafada and 40 kilometres from Ashaka where the insurgents launched attacks.
