Lagos - Etisalat Nigeria, the mobile operator, reported its Chairman, Hakeem Bello-Osagie, had been named the Telecom Entrepreneur of the Year.
At a just-concluded ceremony, the company was also awarded the Youth Empowerment Telecom Operator of the Year and the Best Brand Campaign.
Public Relations Manager, Etisalat Nigeria, Chineze Amanfo, described the awards as a clear confirmation of Etisalat’s commitment to innovation and corporate excellence.
“Since our entry into the Nigerian market in 2008, we have continuously delivered top quality products and services promised to our customers. Our subscriber base in this highly competitive industry now exceeds 19 million,” Amanfo said.
She further explained that creativity is important in almost every decision taken at the organisation.
“At Etisalat we believe in doing things differently and we are proud of it. We are driven by a desire to add value to the lives of our customers and to build a reliable network,” she added.
Etisalat won the Best Brand Campaign award for the EasyFlex commercial and the music reality television programme, Nigerian Idol, which also earned the company the Youth Empowerment Telecom Operator of the Year award.
The Telecom Entrepreneur of the Year award was presented to Bello-Osagie, in recognition of his role in bringing the United Arab Emirates telecommunications firm to Nigeria and keeping it afloat for close to six years amidst stiff competition.
