All the talk from Bayern in the build-up was about not fearing PSG's star-studded attack, but they were proven oh so wrong as Edinson Cavani and Neymar both got on the scoresheet for the hosts after Dani Alves had given them a dream start.

Neymar caused the visitors problems almost straight from the kick-off as the forward danced his way into the area from the left before picking out an unmarked Alves on the right, and the Brazilian right-back blasted home from just outside the six-yard box on two minutes.

Carlo Ancelotti's men had a chance to draw level 10 minutes later from a corner, but Thomas Muller somehow missed the target from just five yards out.

Javi Martinez then produced a super one-handed save from Alphonse Areola with a shot from outside the box on 19 minutes, before Neymar squandered a good opportunity in a one-on-one with Sven Ulreich two minutes later.

But PSG doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark with a clinical strike from Cavani on the edge of the box after being teed up by Kylian Mbappe, who had been played in on the right.

Ulreich pulled off a fine reaction save to deny Cavani with his boot after the Uruguayan striker had been set up by Neymar's backheel from Mbappe's cross on 37 minutes, which kept the scoreline at 2-0 going into the break.

Neymar failed to hit the target with two early efforts in the second half, but the Samba star finally found the back of the net on 63 minutes as he slotted home on the rebound after Mbappe's initial shot had deflected into his path off Martinez.

Bayern thought they had pulled one back four minutes later when Arturo Vidal latched onto a through-ball from Robert Lewandowski before beating Areola at the second attempt, but the offside flag went up.

Areola was called into action twice at the death as he saved substitute Kingsley Coman's angled drive before being tested by Lewandowski's free-kick, as PSG kept the Bavarian giants at bay.
