Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner has assured that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is fully prepared for the re-run in the state.
Dr. Gabriel Ada gave the assurance while briefing reporters in Uyo, the capital Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday.
To ensure that the March 12 voting exercise is hitch-free, Dr. Ada said that the Commission has been meeting with political parties taking part in the election, security agencies and other stakeholders on the need for a peaceful re-run.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner said that the Commission has also commenced public enlightenment across the affected areas to encourage participation.
The commission is to conduct re-run elections into five state House of Assembly seats and Senatorial re-run in some polling units in Uyo Senatorial district.
343,367 registered voters are expected to vote at 611 polling units in a total of 82 wards spread across 11 Local Government Areas in the state.
As an improvement of the 2015 elections, accreditation and voting in the re-run is scheduled to take place simultaneously between 8:00am and 2:00pm.
