Road Construction: Osun Govt. Compensates 450 Farmers, Three Others

The Osun State government has compensated 450 farmers and three other people who were affected by the rural mobilization project.
The farmers ‎affected by road construction received monetary compensations from the state government while the three other people were rewarded with newly built houses.
Governor Rauf Aregbesola handed over the monetary compensation and keys to the beneficiaries in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
He said that the compensation were in fulfilment of government’s promise that people will not be burdened by ongoing developments in the different parts of the State.
Road Construction
The Osun State Governor handed over cheques of N28 million to 450 farmers, including some traditional rulers, who were also affected by road construction in the rural areas by the Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP).
Governor Aregbesola explained that the beneficiaries were those whose farmlands and produce were affected in the ongoing construction of a 225km Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP), a World Bank and French Development Agency assisted project.
The Governor also explained that the ‎construction of the four new markets will eradicate street trading and re-settle traders whose market places were affected in his administration’s urban renewal programme.

He warned that any trader found in a place other than the designated market, two weeks from now would be dealt with.
