Kidnapped Australians Regain Freedom In Cross River

The expatriates who were abducted by unknown gunmen in Calabar, the Cross River State capital have regained freedom.
According to the State Security Adviser, Jude Ngaji, no ransom was paid for their release and they were not harmed by the abductors.
In a phone conversation with Channels Television, he said that the Cross River State Government regrets the incident which he described as a strange one in the state.
He assured the public that security agencies have beeped up personnel to avert a reoccurrence of such incident.
Mr Ngaji also encouraged residents to go about their daily activities without fear of molestation.
The expatriates were said to have been kidnapped at gun point in the early hours of Thursday (June 23) along the Idundu Bridge in the outskirts of Calabar.

A driver was killed during the incident, while Police confirmed that two of the seven abducted persons later escaped.
