EFCC Moves Against Looting Of IDPs’ Funds

CHANNELS TV

The EFCC has warned against the diversion of funds and other resources donated by international humanitarian organisations for Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in Borno State and other parts of the country.
The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, handed down the warning during a visit to the re-opened zonal office of the commission in Maiduguri.
Mr Magu said that anyone caught tampering with funds meant for the IDPs would be treated as a criminal.
The EFCC boss added that the commission would ensure that there is transparency and accountability in the use of the resources meant for IDPs.

The EFCC is worried about complaints of corruption in IDP camps, coming from international humanitarian organizations and other civil society organizations that are helping the distressed victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the city and beyond.
