The Accord Party in Oyo State says it is heading for the Appeal Court as the party remains dissatisfied with last Tuesday’s tribunal ruling that dismissed its candidate’s petition against the re-election of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Describing the judgement of the Mohammed Mayaki-led tribunal as a travesty of justice, the Accord Party Spokesperson, Hon. Adeolu Adeleke, told journalists at a press conference that the Mayaki tribunal favoured the APC as the Governor had earlier boasted of victory against Ladoja.
Adeleke further disclosed that the party remained resolute in its commitment to equity, fairness and peaceful conducts.
He thanked Accord Party members for their peaceful disposition so far and admonished them to continue to be law abiding.
“Sore Losers”
Reacting to the allegations of the Accord Party against the Governor and his party, the APC Spokesperson, Wale Sadare, said that it was unfortunate that the Accord Party members have remained sore losers.
He expressed disappointment that the party has decided not to move on despiteGovernor Ajimobi’s call for the opposition’s cooperation.
Sadare said that as much as an appeal remains the statutory right of any aggrieved person or group, the APC was undaunted.
He expressed confidence that they would again win the appeal.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi had called on all the opposition in the state to join hands with him to move the state forward. He made the call shortly after the tribunal upheld his victory at the April polls.
The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Oyo State on Tuesday upheld the election of Governor Abiola Ajimobi in the April 11 polls.
