Herdsmen-Farmers Crisis: Nasarawa, Benue To Hold Security Meeting

BBC News
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said that a joint security meeting with his Nasarawa State counterpart to address borderline crimes will be convened following the success recorded by the Benue State amnesty programme.
The decision follows interactions between the Governor and the Osana of Keana, Senator Emmanuel Elayo over the perennial Fulani herdsmen and farmers clashes in border communities of the two states.
Mr Ortom, who held a similar joint security meeting with his Taraba State counterpart in the wake of the ceaseless killings in that area, says a quick solution to the Fulani-farmers crisis between the two states was necessary as the dry season sets in.
The Osana of Keana, a border community with Benue State from Guma Local Government said that the age-long relationship between farmers and Fulani’s will be restored to ensure lasting peace.
