The House of Representatives has revealed its determination to ascertain the personnel strength of the Nigeria Police Force.
The lower chamber is also ready to investigate a claim that about 90,000 police officials have been killed in the fight against insurgency.
This resolution followed a debate on a motion of urgent public importance by a member of the House, Honourable Ahmed Yerima, who said that the statement was a source of concern.
The House approved the motion and mandated its Committee on Police Affairs to look into ways of replacing any shortfall in manpower being faced by the force.
The motion also urged the executive to ensure that any recruitment into the Police Force reflected federal character.
