The Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Cardinal James Odunmbaku, says the new Governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, will surpass his predecessor in terms of achievement.

Odunmbaku, who spoke in Lagos on Sunday, added that the APC was a progressive party, which was given to exceptional performance.

He said, “The outstanding performance of the APC’s elected officers across the country encouraged Nigerians to vote for change at the federal level and retain the party in Lagos State. Ambode will do more to justify the confidence reposed in him by Lagosians.”

Odunmbaku, who was the Chairman of the APC/Ambode Campaign Committee, also urged the new governor to deliver dividends of democracy to residents of the state.
He said although the administration of the immediate past Governor of the state, Babatunde Fashola, recorded landslide achievements, Ambode must do more.

He lauded Fashola for giving an excellent account of himself while in office, wishing him well in his future endeavours.
He added that Ambode’s administration would start from where Fashola’s government stopped.

Odunmbaku said, “During the swearing-in of the governor, Ambode promised to key into the 2012 – 2025 Development Programme put in place by the Fashola’s administration.
“That is the essence of continuity and that is why I believe Ambode will surpass Fashola’s achievements.

“He was part of Fashola’s government and he was one of those who drew out the development plan. So, he is not a stranger in the government of Lagos State.”
