Dogara Engages Envoys, Others On Development Of North East

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Yakubu Dogara, on Monday said he has received assurances from development partners and foreign envoys who are ready to provide aid for the development of the North Eastern part of Nigeria. 
The Speaker said this during a meeting with a group, the Northern Reawakening Forum in the National Assembly.
The group offered support to the Speaker and the House of Representatives and also appealed for help in restoring the region after years of devastation suffered in the war against insurgency.

The Speaker said rebuilding the North East is a critical agenda for the House and its one challenge the House is ready to tackle.
He also said he has already commenced discussion with envoys and representatives of some countries who are ready to help.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourale Yusuf Lasun, also met with officials of the Nigeria Institute for Legislative Studies.

He observed that Nigerians have a lot of assumptions about the duties and functions of the legislature.
The Deputy Speaker also encouraged the institution to present suggestions on ways through which the House can help the executive tackle some of the challenges facing the country.
