The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has condemned a gang fight that occurred in Ungwan Rimi area of the state.
A notorious gang popularly known as (Yan Daba) attacked each other at Unguwan Rimi area in the late hours of Monday and early hours of Tuesday and left one person dead while vehicles and property were also destroyed.
A resident of the area, Sanusi Mustapha, who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES said it was a massive clash between the two groups.
“We had to leave our small businesses and run home. The young boys were stabbing and attacking themselves with daggers and knives. They also destroyed and looted people’s shops,” Mr. Mustapha said.
He said although he could not specifically say the reason the two groups fought, it was most likely about a girlfriend.
“They fight mostly because of their girlfriends, and this is not the first time,” Mr. Sanusi said.
Meanwhile the state governor in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, has directed Kaduna State Police Command and Ministry of Justice to swing into action and prosecute all culprits involved in the uprising.
Mr. El-Rufai said the incident is condemnable and threat to peaceful living of the people of the state.
“We will not condone such act and we will explore all legal means at our disposal to punish all those involved without fear or favour.
“I have directed the Police to work hand in hand with Ministry of Justice and bring to book all the culprits involved in this lawlessness and violence that took place.
“Anyone found will not be spared, no matter how highly placed and powerful they are in the state or beyond. It is a demonstration of our resolution against harassing and intimating innocent with impunity throughout the length and bread of Kaduna state,” Mr. El-Rufai said.
