The Adamawa State Governor, Bala Ngilari has described the emergence of a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] in the state as God’s answer to the cries of the people of Adamawa State, who he said have been yearning for good governance in the past 16 years.
Mr. Ngilari, who spoke at a ‘Thank You’ rally held by the party at Jada on Saturday, said Mr. Ribadu’s record as an astute administrator and fighter of corruption place him in good stead as the right man needed by the state at this time.
The governor further stated that the PDP in the state is formidable enough to retain the positions it currently occupies. He said with Mr. Ribadu on the ballot, the party is sure to emerge successful at the polls.
Mr. Ngilari, represented by his deputy governor designate, Sa’ad Tahir, noted that his aspiration for the party’s nomination and his loss in the contest were acts of God.
“As people of God, we know that both Christian and Islamic scriptures have taught us that no one can give you power or take away power from you, other than God. I am therefore free of any malice,” he said.
The governor further reiterated his resolve to ensure total victory for the party in the state, as he admonished all partymen to work for victory.
In his address, Mr. Ribadu thanked the party’s delegates and other stakeholders from Jada and other local governments for entrusting the governorship’s ticket in him. He pledged not to let them down if he eventually succeeds at the general election.
“I am in this for the good of Adamawa State,” he said. “Our aim is to see that the Adamawa takes its rightful place among states of Nigeria. We want to uphold the sanctity of human dignity through provision of essential life tools.”
