Governor Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State has urged Nigerians to reject any attempt to postpone the February general elections, as being proposed by some individuals.
The governor made the call during his campaign tour of Udege and Loko, a riverine community bordering Benue state where he had gone to canvass for his re-election votes and that of other candidates of the party.
Mr Al-makura said a lot of preparations and sacrifices had been made towards the February general elections, noting that a shift in election date would only jeopardise the country’s chances of consolidating on the democratic dispensation.
The governor and some indigenes also spoke on the development of the chiefdoms and the need to accord the Emir’s all the support required to keep the peace of the area
Mr Al-makura would be hoping to cash-in on the support of the chiefdoms whose Emirs are revered by the people of the area.
