2014 was a horrible year for all of us — Chibok parents

Samuel Abana, a father to one of the Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram militants in Borno State on April 14, has said that 2014 was a horrible year for them.

Speaking in Abuja at the #BringBackOurGirls sit-in, Mr. Abana said the past year held the gloomiest experience for the people of Chibok.

“We used to gather at the Chibok Central School – Christians and Muslims – but 2014 is a horrible year for all of us; everybody is scattered,” Mr. Abana said.

He appealed to the Federal Government to ensure that the insurgency in the area is immediately tackled to enable the displaced persons return to Chibok.

Also speaking, a mother of two of the abducted girls, Martha Enoch, said as a parent, she was tired of promises made by the Nigerian government towards the rescue of the girls.

“They keep telling us, we will bring your children, we will bring your children; where are the children?” Ms. Enoch, who said she already suffers high blood pressure, asked.

“If they can’t, they should bring their bodies, “she said.

The abducted girls were kidnapped by terrorists from their hostel in Government Secondary School Chibok in Borno State.

The Nigerian government has however failed to rescue the girls more than nine months after.
