Lagos - A reporter cum presenter for the African Independent Television, (AIT) was arrested and detained on the order of the Assistant Inspector General, Joseph Mbu for referring to him as being controversial, Premium Timesreports.
The reporter, Amaechi Anakwe, was immediately arrested after reporting at the Zone 7 police headquarters in Abuja, on the invitation of the police boss.
He was said to have described the former Rivers State Police Commissioner as controversial during a television programme on his station, Matters Arising.
Anakwe was first invited by Mbu last Friday but he did not honor the invitation after his employers complained that the letter was addressed to the reporter in his personal capacity.
A subsequent invitation was served on the media house on Monday.
