The saga over an alleged missing phone between journalists in Kano and the Senate Committee Chairman on Privatisation, Gbenga Obadara, continued on Thursday with the journalists demanding that Mr. Obadara who falsely accused them, apologise to them in five national dailies.
During an interactive session at the Kano Electricity Distribution Company on Wednesday, which involved members of the committee, journalists were subjected to a humiliating search after Mr. Obadara claimed his China-made smartphone was missing.
The search was overseen by armed policemen. However, the phone was later found but not on any of the journalists.
In a protest letter signed and issued by the chairman and secretary of the Kano NUJ Council, Abduljalal Haruna and Adamu Gamo respectively, to the office of the KEDCO, they warned that failure by the electricity company and the Senator to apologise in a paid advert in five national dailies, will compel them to institute civil case against both parties.
The journalists have decided to henceforth boycott coverage of the activities of the electricity company until the apology is issued.
