Lagos - The country’s mobile network carrier urged locals to embrace peace and selflessness during Eid-El-Kabir, an important festival in the Islamic calendar.
Globacom, the mobile firm, called on the Muslim community to continue to live up to the tenets of the Islamic faith through acts of charity, peaceful co-existence with their neighbours and obedience to the injunctions of Holy Quoran.
“It is a season of charity, peace and forgiveness; we must remember to fend for the poor and the needy in line with Allah’s injunction to be our brother’s keeper,” ” Globacom said in a statement ahead of Eid-El-Kabir scheduled for October 4.
It congratulated all Nigerian Muslims ahead of the festival.

“We warmly felicitate with our Muslim brothers in Nigeria as they celebrate the 2014 Eid-el-Kabir. As they savour the joy of the occasion, the company also rejoices with all Nigerians who successfully performed the Hajj this year in fulfillment of a key injunction of the Islamic faith and urged them to imbibe the lessons of commitment, dedication and obedience to higher authority inherent in Prophet Ibraheem’s willingness to sacrifice his son in deference to the will of God which Eid-El-Kabir commemorates.”

The company said it had optimised its operations and special products to enable Muslim faithful enjoy quality service during the sallah celebration and beyond. Among the Islamic value added offerings on the Glo network are the Ibadat app, Islamic Digest and IVR services.
“These products will assist the Muslim faithful in their spiritual devotion all year round; providing prayer alerts, the Qibla compass, reading of the Holy Quran, a virtual Tasbih, live relay of prayers from Mecca, ring tones and Islamic wallpapers," said the telecoms firm.
