Chairman, John Momoh, Receives Constituency For Africa’s Excellence In Journalism Award

The Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of Channels Television, John Momoh, has been honoured with the Constituency For Africa’s Excellence in Journalism Award in recognition of his contributions to journalism in Africa.

The award was presented at a stakeholders dinner in the US on Sunday where the African-American community got to learn more about Channels Television.

For eight times, Channels Television has received the Television of The Year Award in Nigeria.

The Constituency For Africa is a group of concerned individuals on the affairs of the continent.

Mr John Momoh was invited as a guest speaker at this years Ronald H. Brown African Affairs series.

In his speech, Mr Momoh stressed the need for the African continent to convert its numerous communities into information-rich communities.

He further pointed out that major educational institutions, including junior level and higher schools as well colleges and universities throughout the sub-Saharan Africa and the African Diaspora would benefit from a television service that promotes an African orientation.

“An inspiring and meaningful public service revolution could be launched by introducing a dedicated series of African heritage television.

“Through this, a culture of developing civil society grouping will gradually evolve,” he said.

The Chairman of Channels Television expressed joy over the award. “This is one of the best awards I have ever received,” he said.

Some of the participants impressed by the success story want Channels Television to produce content for the African-American community which would be broadcast to local networks and even in schools and colleges.

“We have got the deans of the schools of communication who are interested. they have television and radio stations. We can put that out there to know if there to say they can be some profitable conversation about putting them into a global strategy, “Meldon Hollis of the US Department of Education said.

Mr John Momoh attributed his success to God, the companionship of his loving wife and his commitment and persistence in doing what is right.
