NBET Says FG’s 20,000 Megawatts Target Not Feasible

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company, Mrs Marilyn Amobi, says government’s target for 20,000 megawatts of electricity by the year 2020 is not feasible.
Mrs Amobi made the remarks in Abuja at a meeting with the House of Reps Committee on Power, to assess the contributions of the company towards stabilizing electricity supply in Nigeria.
According to her, the realities on ground suggest that Nigerians may have to wait a little beyond the vision 2020 target, as there is currently no capacity to realize the 20,000 megawatts of electricity.
She, however, stated that electricity generation and supplies can be significantly improved upon if the current attention given to the sector is sustained.
The Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company is the electricity buying company of the federal government.
