Residents Of Naka Community Call For Rehabilitation Of Dam

CHANNELS TV
Residents of Naka, in Gwer West local council area of Benue State, are calling on the federal government to rehabilitate the Naka Dam.
The water project which was constructed in 1986, according to them, collapsed in 2013 due to lack of maintenance.
Although, manual efforts by the local government authority to clear some part of the dam and ensure proper waste disposal within the local government, are on-going, the rehabilitation work appears to be beyond the local authorities.
The Dam has served as the only source of potable water for the locals for many years.
The residents, one of which spoke to Channels Television, suggested that the government either “expands the dam or establishes a new one”, to alleviate the suffering of the people
