Hamilton wins 50th career GP
Lewis Hamilton started on pole and made no mistakes as he took victory at the US Grand Prix. It was the Briton driver’s first win on the circuit since the German GP in July. The win, the 50t in his career puts him 26 points behind his Mercedes teammate, Nico Rosberg with 75 points still available in the remaining three races.
Mourinho suffers heaviest EPL defeat
It was made a bad homecoming for Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge on Sunday as his former side inflicted on him his heaviest ever defeat as a manager in the English Premier League. Manchester United team also conceded the fastest ever goal by a team coached by Mourinho. United have won just two points from their last three league matches and are also winless in five in the EPL.
Cubs end 71-year barren run
Chicago are celebrating after the Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, to take the team into the baseball World Series finals for the first time since 1945. The Cubs, who are said to have been operating under a curse, beat the Dodgers in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series. They will now meet the Cleveland Indians, for the first game of the World Series finals on Tuesday.
Sundowns win South Africa’s 2nd CAF Champions League
Pitso Mosimane became the first South African coach to lead a club to win Africa’s highest club honour, the CAF Champions League on Sunday as Mamelodi Sundowns prevailed 3-1 on aggregate. Sundowns also became the second South African club to win the trophy, after Orlando Pirates. They have thus qualified for the World Club Cup tournament in December.
Harrington secures win after eight-year wait
Padraig Harrington eased a sigh of relief when he secured his first European Tour win in eight years with a one-shot victory at the Portugal Masters.
The three-time major winner shot a final round 65 for a 23-under-par score, finishing ahead of defending champion Andy Sullivan.
He said afterward: “It’s a big win. I tried to be really aggressive. The golf course really suited me and I just tried to go after every pin I could.” Congrats, Padraig, we hope you do not have to wait so many years for your next win.

85-year-old breaks marathon record
They say there is nothing you cannot do if you put your heart to it and that is exactly what 85-year-old Ed Whitlock achieved when he completed the Toronto Marathon. Through heavy wind and rain, the octogenarian said he,”had real apprehension about how I was going to finish at around halfway.”
But despite this apprehension, Whitlock still managed to set a world record for his age group as he finished the marathon in just three hours, 56 minutes, and 33.2 seconds. Congrats, GrandPa, we hope you are still around next year to continue inspiring us.
